
At the Government of the Republic of Macedonia a Letter of Consent for enforcement of laws was signed between the Government of the United States of America and the Government of the Republic of Macedonia. The letter was signed by the Minister of Justice, Blerim Bexheti, the Minister of Interior, Gordana Jankulovska and by the Ambassador of the United States H.E. Paul Wohlers. "This day is especially important for the judicial institutions of the Republic of Macedonia since this continues our cooperation with the Government of the United States in the area of criminal law. By signing the Letter of Consent for enforcement of laws and its implementation the capacity of institutions will be strengthened to combat the organized crime and corruption in the country.
”I would particularly emphasize the time that we signed letter of consent, given the intensity of the activities that are taking place to prepare for the implementation of the new Law on Criminal Procedure.
This applies particularly to the segment of training of judges and public prosecutors, equipping of the relevant institutions, professional expertise etc., "said Minister of Justice, Blerim Bexheti. By signing this document and its implementation, the United States will help building the capacity of institutions in the Republic of Macedonia in the fight against organized crime and corruption. Assistance refers to proactive approaches during investigation and effective prosecution, locating the responsibility of the perpetrators and their punishment, and promoting of public safety and good governance.
The project provides training, equipment donation, technical support and professional expert opinion for the Academy for Judges and Public Prosecutors, the Ministry of Justice, the Public Prosecution Office, the judiciary, especially for the first instance criminal courts. "Also, I would like to point out that signing of this document is a continuation of successful cooperation with our friends from the United States of America.
